Privacy notice

Holp is in development. Right now this site does two things with personal data: it takes the details you type into the waitlist form so we can email you when there's something to show you, and it counts how the pages are used without storing anything on your device. This notice explains exactly what both of those mean.

Who we are

Holp is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@holp.me about anything on this page, including requests to see or delete your data.

What we collect

Only what you type into the waitlist form:

• Your email address — required, because it's how we contact you.
• Your name — optional.
• How many properties you manage — optional, chosen from a list.
• Your answer about what's most annoying in letting today — optional, and free text. Please don't include tenant, landlord or property details in it; we don't need them, and we'd rather not hold them.

We also record the date and time you signed up. We do not store your IP address, and we don't ask for anything else.

No cookies, and no third party watching you

This site sets no cookies, and stores nothing on your device — not a cookie, not local storage, not session storage. There is no advertising pixel, and nothing here is shared with an advertiser or a data broker. Our fonts are served from our own domain rather than a font CDN, so loading a page here doesn't announce your visit to anyone else.

We do measure how the site is used, because we'd rather know which pages are worth writing than guess. We use PostHog, on their European servers, in what they call cookieless mode: it records which pages were viewed, whether the waitlist form worked, and errors and page-speed figures from your browser, and it does that without storing an identifier on your device or building a profile of you.

Two details of how that is set up, because they're the part that actually matters:

• Your browser never talks to PostHog. Measurement requests go to holp.me and we pass them on, so PostHog is our processor rather than a third party observing you directly.
• Your IP address is not stored. It's used once, in passing, to work out that two page views came from the same visit, and discarded. We don't record your location, time zone or language.

There is no session recording on this site or anywhere in Holp: we do not replay what you typed or where you moved your mouse.

The lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site works. Because nothing is stored on your device and no profile is built, there's nothing here to ask your permission for — which is why we haven't put a cookie banner in your way. If you'd rather not be counted at all, turn on "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control in your browser: when either is on, this site doesn't load the measurement tool at all. Emailing us works too.

Why we're allowed to hold it

Your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we'll delete your details. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did with the data before you withdrew it.

What we do with it

We email you about early access to Holp, and we may reply to what you wrote in the free-text box. That's the whole list.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for anyone else's marketing, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

Where it's stored, and who else touches it

Signups are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database, and this site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare acts as our processor: they hold the data on our instructions and, as the host, they handle the network request that carries it. When you start filling in the form, it also loads Cloudflare Turnstile from challenges.cloudflare.com, which checks that the form is being sent by a person rather than a script. Nothing loads from there if you never touch the form.

Our second processor is PostHog, for the usage measurement described above. PostHog holds that data on servers in the European Union. Waitlist signups are not sent to PostHog, and PostHog's data is not joined to them: the two never meet.

Our third is Resend, which sends email for us. When you join the waitlist, it carries the confirmation email to you, and a notification to us that contains what you typed into the form (your email address and, if you gave them, your name, property count and answer). Resend is based in the United States, so those emails pass through, and are logged on, its servers there.

Those three are the only companies involved, and none may use anything of yours for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Until Holp launches and we've contacted you about it, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. If the product doesn't happen, we delete the list.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it over in a portable form. You can also object to our using it, and withdraw your consent. Email hello@holp.me and we'll action it — there's no form to fill in, and it costs you nothing.

If you think we've handled your data badly, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie. We'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects what we do with data we already hold, we'll email the people on the list rather than quietly editing this page.
